Department History

The Department of Toxicological Chemistry is one of the specialized departments of the Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute. It was organized in 1940 as the course “Forensic Chemistry”, in 1963 it was renamed the course “Toxicological Chemistry”, the leadership of which was entrusted to the candidate of pharmaceutical sciences, associate professor Ikramov Latif Tulaganovich. In 1966, the course “Toxicological Chemistry” was transformed into a Department.

Since the foundation of the Department, in different years it was led by the following professors and teachers:

After the foundation of the Department of Toxicological Chemistry under the name “Forensic Chemistry” in 1940, it was led by the Master of Pharmacy V. I. Sheblikin. In 1951, the course “Pharmaceutical Management and Medical Commodity Science” joined the Department of Forensic Chemistry. In 1956, in connection with the department of the course “Pharmaceutical Management and Medical Commodity Science” as a separate department, the Department of Forensic Chemistry was joined as a course to the Department of Biological Chemistry, which was led by Kh. R. Rakhmatov.
Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor L.T. Ikramov headed the department for more than 35 years. During this time, 15 candidates and 2 doctors of science were trained under his leadership. The textbook “Forensic Chemistry,” published by Professor L.T. Ikramov, was published twice, and the workshop on forensic chemistry was reprinted three times. At the initiative of Professor L.T. Ikramov, in 1966-1992, courses of advanced training of forensic chemists were organized on the basis of the Department, where 561 specialists from 120 cities of the Commonwealth of Independent States were trained.
From 1995 to 1998 the department was headed by the student L.T. Ikramova Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor Hikmatullah Sunnatovich Zainutdinov. During this time, under the guidance of Professor H. S. Zainutdinov, 1 candidate ‘s thesis was defended, training in two new subjects was organized: “Quality control of medicines by physical and chemical methods” and “The role of physics and electronics in pharmacy.”

In 1998-2000 the department was headed by Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Associate Professor Akram Yousupovich Tashpulatov. During this time, he developed and published in Uzbek and Russian the texts of lectures and educational and methodological manuals on completely new subjects, such as “Quality control of medicines by physical and chemical methods” and “The role of physics and electronics in pharmacy.”

In 2000-2001 the department was headed by Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Associate Professor Zokirzhon Abidovich Yuldashev.

In June 2001, in connection with the appointment of Z.A.Yuldashev as Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Head of the Department of Toxicological Chemistry was appointed Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor Mansurjon Azizovich Tadjiev. Professor M.A.Tajiev headed the department until 2012. During this time, under his leadership, 4 employees successfully defended their PhD dissertation, and 1 textbook and manuals on practical exercises were republished 2 times in toxicological chemistry.
On August 28, 2012, the Department of Toxicological Chemistry joined the Department of Organic and Biological Chemistry, and it became known as the Department of Toxicological, Organic and Biological Chemistry. The head of the Department of Toxicological, Organic and Biological

Details of ongoing research at the department.

The professors and teachers of the Department of Toxicological Chemistry conducted their scientific research according to the plan for 2019, approved by the Scientific Council of the Institute. The main direction of the research work of professors and teachers of the department: “The study of certain drugs and pesticides widely used in agriculture in chemical and toxicological terms.” However, in recent years there have been various cases of poisoning as a result of falsification or improper use of certain drugs. Given this circumstance, as well as the recommendations of the Republican forensic medical examination, professors and teachers of the department planned to conduct research aimed at isolating certain drugs and pesticides derived from benzimidazole of toxicological significance from various biological objects, conducting their analysis using modern methods improving existing methods.

1 doctor of sciences, professor, 4 candidates of sciences, 2 associate professors, 1 senior lecturer and 5 assistants make up the teaching staff of the department.

Professors and teachers of the department carry out research work on the following topics:

– Theme of the professor of the department Z.A. Yuldashev: “Chemical-toxicological studies of poisoning by alkaloid plants”
